Pajero Shocks

Submitted: Saturday, Jan 14, 2006 at 16:55

Gajm (VIC)

Hi all, I have done a search (don't like the new search thing for archives), but can't find anything about them. So can anyone tell me whats a decent shocker to put on the front of a 98 Pajero, and roughly what sort of price I should be paying?

It does 98% road work, but will be going off road next week, and a look underneath found one shocker pi55ing oil so they have to be replaced but I have no clue with what. It's the wifes car....so I guess I should be looking at something decent...after all the kids are in it often.

Hi, we just fitted new springs and shocks to our Pathfinder today, after doing lots of research. We put in Toughdog shocks and King springs. Not sure where you get them in Vic, but here in NSW we got them from Penrith Wholesale Suspension. We got about 2" lift, when all the others said we would only get 1" max! - Jo

you can quite easily put a 2inch lift in any ifs vehicle.
the only problem will be your lack of wheel travel.
you may find just small drop offs will leave you wheel hanging there in the air.
when people say 1 inch max 25-40 mm dosnt seem to cause to much trouble.
cheers

LOL - these were the standard ones, really should only give 1", but I think the springs and shocks we had one were pretty stuffed!

The springs will settle over a period of 3 weeks so 2 inch may drop down a bit.

just probly stick with the known names/
ome/munroe/pedders ect.
i put pedders foam cell on the front of the jack and just fitted munroe to the rear.
munroe are around $80 per corner not sure of ome never bought them and pedders around $90 per corner.
or if you like theres always the best koni/bilstein for around $200 per corner.
cheers

Hi i think that you find that O.M.E are no longer Australian made. It is a shame that we are starting to import everything.

Got konis now. Best yet.
Tried old man emu, pedder and rancho rs9000s.
Usually get 60,000k from front shock. 70to 80% on road.
Some beach work but mainly touring out west.
Stock front end.
Had the car from new and now 260,000k later.
Just under $300.00 for the pair.
Fitted them myself. Hate getting the bolt threads stripped by 'experts', which did happen to me once on the old NB (86).
