The GU barn door locks have some plastic and rubber bits which in the long term could be damaged by the spraying of CRC or petroleum based lubricants.
I found that the noise comes from the rubber pads which are supposed to hold everything tight.
I lubricate everything with either vaseline, spary on vaseline or rubber grease (PBR or similar) which you should find in brake shops (used to assemble brake calipers etc).
That way you are guaranteed to lubricate but not damage the rubber bits.
