Sqeaky rear doors on the GU

my barn doors have started sqeaking. Even in normal driving conditions..little bump...little sqeak! Big bump...bigger sqeak!

Sounds like the door seals rubbing to me. I have checked the tightness of the doors in the closed position and they seem OK.

Any ideas on how to fix it??? Is there a spray like WD40 that won't stink the car out??

Sometimes I have the same problem with my Troopie.
I tried all sorts of things like adjusting the doors and lubricating hinges,
but that didn't work. Then finaly I ludricated the door locking devices
on the top and bottom of the door and the problem was solved.
Last week I did this again and the noise is gone for the next couple of months.

The GU barn door locks have some plastic and rubber bits which in the long term could be damaged by the spraying of CRC or petroleum based lubricants.

I found that the noise comes from the rubber pads which are supposed to hold everything tight.

I lubricate everything with either vaseline, spary on vaseline or rubber grease (PBR or similar) which you should find in brake shops (used to assemble brake calipers etc).

That way you are guaranteed to lubricate but not damage the rubber bits.

I use spray on grease from Autobarn on my door locks to stop the squeek in my GU.

I use just CRC out of the spray-can and it works fine.
You need only a little of it, so it's not messy.
This will loosen-up the locking catch.
The catch is not fully closing because of dirt and that is the problem.

Hi Andrew, you can try this i found it to work on my squeaky doors it is Dri Lube it is a solid lubrication in stick form available from all auto shops. Hope it helps Brew

Andrew - I've used various products but have found Lanotec to be the best. Keeps the squeaks down, the hinges and guide lubed and flushes out the dust. Great products @ about $10 a can.
