evening all
can someone explain in laymen terms tyre sizes ie my car cam with 260-70 16?
i now havev 265-75-16 what are 270 and 275 etc

Hey Steve,

265 = Tyre width in millimetres.
75 = Height of tyre from rim to top of tread as a percentage of the width.(eg: 75% of 265 millimetres equals the tyre profile.
16 = the height of the rim.

Therefore a 270 or 275 tyre is 270mm or 275mm in width.

What Matt says is correct and the ratio of the width v height expressed as a percentage is called the "Aspect Ratio" For example a 305/25R19 would be very wide and very low hence the colloquialism "lacky band tyres"
