Insurance

Laura B

Have been with NRMA but have decided to look around for once.

I have looked at other posts and a lot of people say tcis is a good one - not neccessarily cheaper but have better cover, so is this still the case ?

What are other good ones that insure modified 4b's and do people really get away with "Exploroz" being their 4wd club name!!??!!

Just wanting the latest info off anyone that can help...

Laura

P.S If y insurance i due half way through our trip - t can be paid in advance and changed to someone else cannt it??!! Thanks....

hello Laura,
My 2006 Troopy is through AAMI, good price and over time good coverage.
The guy I work is insured with AAMI he lost his Ford Courier 4wd years ago in a scenario like the Landcruiser in your photo. They recovered it from the river, wrote it off on the day and cheque in a week.

Geoff.

I too am with AAMI - the only condition to be aware of is you are covered when on marked tracks. Be careful when paddock bashing.

I'm also with AAMI and and shopped around prior to renewal including TCIS. I also sought clarification of their definition about where you are covered as the policy does not state it. The answer was "On and Off Road" with no qualifications.

We're with Australian 4WD Insurance, underwritten by CGU, and can't fault them yet. They seemed to be the most comprehensive (full coverage anywhere, not just on formed tracks), and were about $50 more than the cheapest we could get.

As luck (or otherwise) would have it, my cruiser is in the shop at the moment, and the other guy was with NRMA - couldn't fault them at all. They have been real helpful, and the car is just about fixed, after being approved Tuesday (accident happened Friday night). All this considering I am the "other driver", and basically wrote off his car...... (his fault, thank christ!)

Cheers,

Chump

chump,
you will find most insurance companies treat the "Not at fault "party pretty well " as they are keen to get you happy to sign off on the release. otherwise they are left with a situation where you might sue in the future.Panel damage costs peanuts compared to medical expenses etc in the future and they want sign off so they have no likelyhood of outstanding liability against a future claim.

I believe if you pay insurance you are entitled to be benefits when things go When dealing with insurance shouldnt have to be satisfied that you didnt get screwed over , you pay premiums you are entiltled to benefits payable under the policy.

cheers

Laura, I went through this a while ago now! Ended up going with Shannons for $400 less than the next cheapest, and it seems to be a really good policy. We had our old Holden with them a few years ago, and never had a problem.

I got quoted $816 for my Navara ST-X($44,000) through GIO. Thought that was a bit over the top, so got a quote from Shannons which came in at $1,200? I will have to try AAMI.

I am with APIA 132555. Excellent policy including good cover for personal items including lost or stolen keys. I pay $548 for a 2002 TD jackeroo with $450 excess. Monthly payments at no extra is a good point anyway. You have to be over 50 though....
