My Gu is a 2000 model and the engine failed at 118,000 without warning.
The Nissan speel about increased sump level fixing the problem is bull,as mine was modified by recall and the engine still failed.
There is a manufacturing or design fault with the first model and the failures are random across this group,if you
search this site you will find reems of information on these failures.
Sorry to depress you,but you need to be aware that the early models are all suspect and Nissan is rolling back the engine replacement program, you would be advised to write to Nissan public relations and register your concerns so it is on their file.

David from David and Justine Olsen's 4WD Tag-Along posted:
According to my contact at Nissan, all failed engines were in vehicles doing highway work. He says engine oil level is critical, and when doing high speed or hard work towing work, the engines use oil to a point where the oil level drops to critical. His advice was use the correct oil, and check it DAILY, and he said if you do that, you will have no problems.
