hello,
As far as I know the p40 is the engine designation ie 4ltr. The p40 is an Austin based mtr. This motor was in all the early 70's G60 model to the MQ,Mk patrols of the 80,s.
The MQ1980-1984 ,MK 1984 -1987 also had the L28 2.8 ltr 6cyl and SD 33 Diesels.
As far as I know only the LWB wagon and utes had the P40 mtr as an option and it wasnt very common in application. I think it was because the motoring scribes of the day said the 2.8 was underdone in a heavier vehicle and the P40 was torquier.
But it drank fuel like a sailor on shore leave.
Hope this helps.
Alan.
