Can I get from Tamala S/stay to Kalbarri?

Submitted: Tuesday, Jul 04, 2006 at 00:47

Martyn (WA)

Forumites,
I'm doing a trip next week up North a bit, I'm wondering if anybody knows if there is a track to follow from Tamala Station Stay to Kalbarri travelling down the coast rather than going down the NW coastal H'way.
I was hoping to try and find a track on the way back down so we could take in the Zuytdorp cliffs rather than heading down and then back again. Bit specific I know but I'm hoping someone has maybe found a track, or one exists.
Thanks in anticipation to anyone who can help.

Hi Martyn,

Used to work in that area back when I was a working man. There are tracks running N/S in the area along the coast, mainly limestone cap rock, rough & extremely slow going (1st gear LR) for miles . Most are station tracks, not gazetted roads so permission may be needed from the respective stations.

The biggest problem is that crossings over the Murchison river are few & far between & if the river is still up a bit they may be fairly deep if not washed out.

Ask locally but your best option still may be out to the Hwy & down & in to Kalbarri.

Good Luck

Disco,
Perfect, thanks for the help. Looking at the maps this looked to be the case, I thought that maybe I was missing something. Great info and appreciated.
