Interfacing UBD City Streets Cd in OziEplorer

Submitted: Wednesday, Aug 02, 2006 at 18:00

Mikee5 (QLD)

Hi,
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to open a UBD City map in OziExplorer? I am new to this and can't seem to do this. I have Ozi Explorer 3.95.4k and UBD City streets on CD loaded to my hard drive.

I am trying to plot a route through Canberra and upload it to my Garmin 126.
I can do the plotting and the uploading, I just need the map.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Mike.

Mike,
You need to download the .map files from the Oziexplorer web site
Go to the "Australian page and scroll down.

Then all will come to life!!! Those maps are excellent.

Mike, good stuff - nice clear maps and the calibration on them are excellent - they usually have you travelling on the correct side of the road!

Yes but only the latest version of UBD, previous versions will not work.

The UBD maps are huge - they come on a DVD. I would say you'll have problems converting them for CE and they will fill up your card. Haven't done it, but I would be surprised if it worked out.

But you'd only need one at a time - no point taking a Perth map if you're driving in Canberra... What format are the files in?

Just talking about this on another forum......

The Australian section of the Oziexplorer website states:

- Note : These maps cannot be converted for use with OziExplorerCE.

The maps are in a folder with about 30 other files. The big files for say Adelaide are over 100Mb and are .CMP

And there are 2 calibration files for each city. Looks awefully complicated.

Looks like CE no-go then if they can't be converted to something it can read...
