Mount Gason Bore and Legends

Hi everyone
I am very interested in the history of Mt Gason just off the Birdsville Track. I believe there is an abandoned settlement there plus a boiling bore that may have claimed a life or two (A Mr Clark in the 1800s was one perhaps). Aborigines apparanently keep away from this area for fear of the water spirits, or so Im told. Would anyone know if there has ever been a murder there. I would be very appreciative of any information that would enlighten my knowledge on this area.
