Sorry, but I have to report a bad experience at LPGAS-1. I had a
snorkel fitted at Wombat Offroad - my regular service place - and then booked the GQ in to LPGAS-1 to get the gas equipment reset to cater for the extra air. The sympoms that I asked them to attend to were: cutting out at idle and being hard to start. I was sold their Annual Service, as the solution.
Took the Patrol in and the cutting out was reduced - not eliminated and the starting was much better. However, the idle was 1000 rpm
cold and 900 warm. As part of their service, they reset the tappets and over the next few days I could smell burning oil, so I popped in to Wombat and the guys found that the rocker cover screws were only finger tight and that engine oil was dribbling down the back of the block.
So we went back again. This time they fixed the idle (the Wombat guys had tightened the rocker cover) and told me that they knew how to fix the cutout problem - they install a balance line between the converter and the
snorkel, but did not have the time to do it that day.
So we went back again for the balance line and now all is OK.
I just get the impression that they have so much work on that the quality control is under duress.

You may be right .I think all the new people doing LPG install courses will find it very hard as you require a great deal of tools and equipment to become a qualified workshop and they will all be at the bottom of the list with suppliers of lpg parts i have worked with a lpg installer for over 10 years and we well looked after in the current situation with our suppliers and we still have to wait weeks and months for some tanks. All the new guys will be in for a real shock.
We have had some customers come in for quotes and we are shocked at the prices they have received on some cars for conversions is outrageous these people are giving the genuine installers a bad name
one person quoted $2400 for a VH commodore sedan 6 cyl.
And you are dead right about the new blokes or 90% of them as far as quality goes and they will convert almost any car or truck with no previous exp on which ones really shouldnt be on gas, we knock back a lot of vehicles because of backfiring problems etc and people dont understand why we do this.
