MVP Charger

I was looking at a 3 stage MVP Battery charger in Kmart yesterday. Variable from 2 to 15 AMP and had a maintenance mode. At $99 I thought it was a bargain. Has anyone used this brand as I have never heard of MVP, if so, would you recommend it?
Cheers,
Brad.

I bought the NVP 6 amp version, tested it and opened it up. Despite claims in the manual of using pulse charging it is in fact only a 2 stage charger - Bulk and Absorption.

It will not apply any Float Charge once approaching full charge. It also ends the Absorption stage too early.

Even though I bought it at $36 during a 25% off sale I returned it - it's poor value.

The only good value Three Stage Charger for $99 I've seen is the Jaycar MB3612 - even though it's described as two stage, it definitely works as three stage for batteries greater than 25 amp-hour.

I'd go with the Jaycar unit to.

had a good play with K-Mart as they were 15% off ($85) ,but it was far to automatic and complex for my liking.
It wouldn't let you connect itself across a resistance as it first measures that there is an appropriate battery voltage there before switch on.

Thought there was another post by different Mike a few weeks ago in which his charged to to high a volts also.

That's exactly the overcharging problem Mike Harding had with the KMart NVP 16 amp charger.

Hi Cpock

Best to stay away from the K-Mart ones.

Stick to an ABR or Ctek charger.

Regards Derek.
