That's good to hear...he sure has covered some territory since last night. I'm glad he decided to go South rather than push through the corrugations. Somewhat ironic that when me & my 8yo were there alone last September it rained that hard we had to stay at Vokes for an extra day to just dry out! Sort of feast/famine stuff but the corrugations are always there!!

yes Leigh, he is relieved not to have to deal with corrugations for the rest of the trip, and his son is very happy now.

All people involved deserve a pat on the back, I hope that some day, Glen see's the r sole's that wouldn't offer any
water on the side of the road broken down, and trying to hitch a lift. Then he should pull up alongside them , wind down the window and say sorry guys I've always tought my son never to pick up any thing on the side of the road execept injured wildlife..! Then just slowly motor off.
Well done guys and good to see the power of the internet too.

I've only just caught up on this.
I left a voice message on his normal mobile earlier this week, no wonder I haven't heard back.
Glenn's too smart, too experienced and too tough for it ever to have been life threatening. He would never let anything jeopordise the life of James.
Quite simply, he was
well prepared for the worst. Anyone who knows him
well would not be surprised.

Good to hear he is safe and sound. It's a bit country and gets pretty scarey when you are out there alone and things start going wrong. Bet the Nullabor road house looked as welcoming as his room at Romsey!

Good to know, thanks Lyn. He didn't answer my call, perhaps after all that his mobile is flat. LOL
Reckon the comment by the Big Kidz would be spot on..........

He was going to the restaurant last night to have a big fat hamburger, so perhaps left his phone in the room, I'm sure he'll have his cdma on today.

Now I KNOW that would not be lovely Mrs BigKidz taking the Michael out of my
well intentioned retort, and I know you LOVE big wed kangaWOOS Mr BigKidz, I take it you mean the ones on the sides of QANTAS airplanes that take one to far off European
places, I am sure Mrs BigKidz would LOVE a trip over there once I get in her ear and tell her the WONDERFUL things that are to be experienced........

Well I must admit I was reading this with some interest but no point me commenting as I could not help in any way........ although I am suprized about the
water not being given by others. Then again it would be good to hear first hand what happened there.
Make me more interested in HF than Sat phone at the current moment.
Pleased to hear all is
well

Maybe a sat phone plus Exploroz
Forum is a viable alternative to VKS737????????
Downside is that we are all in our living rooms, and can't usually offer direct assistance, but upside is theres a knowledge bank out there that can be tapped.
And its reassurred me about the importance of having water in multiple containers. Like Glenn, I also rely on a tank, but usually take a couple of jerries as
well, which saved the day for him too. And its a pretty lonely place out there without water.

Good points to make Phil. I remember when Baz was up in the Strathbogies, Bruce had a message up for me before I got
home. Baz phoned us because he had the numbers, I phoned Truckster. It primed people to look to responses. Ultimately it was Baz' contact with the local constabulary that had them out with their 2by Exploder........ but there was an EO member not too far away up the slope. The EO linkage was a common point of contact.
The
water container issue is a good way to think, multiple containers, we do it that way. Glenn had poured it from a jerry can to the tank though didn't he. Hmmm Like to contailerise things a bit like keeping some
water containers inside a heavier crate to reduce movement. The portapottie has been like that since the start.

Hi Phil. I confess to being a huge supporter of VKS 737 having listened several times to the efforts they go to, the quality of advice and the resources they can marshall from almost nowhere. I always travel with satphone, cos I can, but I rely upon VKS 737 to know what's going on and the
HF radio for the footy scores. Just would not consider any other substitute. Just my opinion though!! Cheers

Hi Leigh,
We think alike. I'm also a huge fan of VKS (S7231) and log in daily while I'm away. I have nothing but praise for the work done by them. I have friends with satphones, which backs it up nicely!!!
What I was thinking is that sometimes, like in Glenns case, someone with a satphone just needs some advice. And a phone call to someone who puts their question on the
forum, may be useful.
Cheers
Phil

Yep I received a SMS from Glenn stating he was at Nullarbor. Quite a drive for a day from Vokes Hill
Obviously that track is in good condition and not horrific as the one from Vokes Hill east to the Dog Fence
