I have just had a look through Parks Victoria website to check if Billy Goats is open.
Just in case I missed something, can anybody confirm that it is open at the moment?
Thanks in advance.

Shaker,

I was at Horseyard Flat on Sunday - I didn't check Billy Goat Bluff Track - but the other gates that I saw are currently shut. As far as I know all the Alpine gates are closed at the moment. It has been pretty wet up there over the last week, Wellington/Macalister flowing well, Moroka about double normal flow, I don't think Parks would open the gates early.

All gates (depending on track conditions) should be opened about the Thursday before the Melbourne Cup Weekend - end of October/start November.

There is another way from the Pinnacles area to Dargo which avoids gates (none on tracks) but I'm not sure of the track conditions.

Hope it helps,

Tim

I thin k you will find it's closed, if not the tracks you use to get to it will be closed!

Billy Goats is normally open , its a little tricky , because the bottom part is not in national park, and also there are no gates, and its not covered or listed by Seasonal Closures .

from Helipad up is in park

If much depended on it I'd call DSE first.

I was in the area last week at London Store Corner 8km. south of Dargo - locals said it was open but as it is quite steep and I had c/t on I travelled accross to the Marathon Rd . via Limestone Ck. I wanted to access the Moroka track to Licola but right at the top of Marathon 2kms. from destination Parks gate was shut .
Parks then advised to take Blanket Tr ( beware slippery) onto Valencia Ck. Tr & up to Moroka . What a ripper - very steep , magic drive along the creek deflated muds to 15psi to get enough grip descending & ascending .
Camped near Higgins (access gate closed) minus 6 degrees at 4700ft. Then Licola to Jamieson via Mt. Skene - breathtaking scenery .
