LOL, but if the blurbs are accurate it may save the 3.0, lower EGT etc. Long waiting list in WA, as the state put a grand up as well, so it costs about a grand for the job. I got a booking at xmas.......will be interesting to see what it does to the little 2.8

Cheers Andrew

dear andrew (awill 4x4) - your a toyota sales man hey
and by the way how old did you say you were and when oh when you ever grow up!
mate i have had 2 by 3.0 td nissan patrols a series 2 and now a series 4
a 2001 series 2 which did 130 K with not one prob and then traded it on
this one i have now series 4 with 35 K and again no probs
>>
in my opinion and i have actually owned and driven two ( how many have you owned ) they are very good 4wd vehicles and superb off road with there LSD rear and an added ARB front locker
>>
and mate at least the front wheels do stay on the patrols - also i do know of 2 x toy 100 series in bris that have alledgedly blown up there diesel engines with not much joy from the dealers - the mechanic thats actually looks after my vehicles has had the two broken toys in his workshop mate so i have seen them - how many broken nissan ZD 3.0 TDs have you actually seen pal - see yu

Gregr, nope I'm a Nissan man tried and true and in my late 40's and if you can't take a bit of light hearted humour about the ZD30's then the problem is yours.
You've had a good run with yours so good luck to you but if you don't think that 13 ZD30 engine failures in this one forum is a disproportionate amount then I certainly do.
In the Nissan club I'm in I know of 2 that have let go, at the engine builder around the corner who we deal with at work I have seen another 2, my mates turbo just let go in his series 3 at 150K.
On Ebay now you can buy complete aftermarket rebuild kits to suit ZD30's including new cylinder heads. This sort of thing doesn't usually happen until well along in an engines design life.
ZD30Rebuild
CylinderHead
I work in the motor racing industry and I have a pretty good understanding how things are stressed and these motors are a highly stressed item.
We are next door to an LPG specialist and in his view he will not be getting involved in any diesel/LPG conversions. I am currently looking at some info supplied by a company who came knocking at his door spruiking the benefits of diesel/LPG and here's some data off the brochure.
This is on a Pajero NP turbo diesel and note all these figures are CLAIMED not verified. On a distance travelled of 400km/week and at a diesel price of $1.45 and an LPG price of $0.50 with an economy of 9.52 kms/litre diesel and 8.92 kms/litre diesel/lpg and here's a BIG CLAIM: A diesel replacement rate of 58% they are claiming a 31.2% fuel saving.
Now, in all honesty. Would anyone even consider a 58% diesel replacement ratio? I think not.
In Mike's (the LPG fitter/installer) view it may be of benefit in a large freight carrying truck but with the proviso of constant monitoring of the engine and any possible early engine problems. He is not convinced of the supposed longevity of these systems in these small diesels that proliferate now.
I drive a 92 GQ efi dual fuel Patrol that has done just under 300K, it uses zero oil and just keeps on going. If I were to change to a diesel in all honesty the ZD30 would never be in my short list.
Regards Andrew.

mate
i did not ask for your opinion of the zd 30 and frankly i dont really care
i am very happy with my patrol zd 30 TD and thats really all there is too it - your opinion is of no interest to me - as i did not ask you for it
what i asked for was if some one has already fitted an lpg conversion to the zd 30 and how it was going and to give me some feed back good or bad on that particualr topic
and i actually have quite a good sense of the rediculous according to my circle of friends
but i just dont really want to be bothered by someone who wants to shove his biased view of my particular vehicle down my throat
so have a good weekend mate and please find something more useful to do
see you greg
