Anton

G'day all!

What is the fastest way from Alice Springs to Mount Isa (sandover hwy or plenty hwy?)

I heard that the 50 last kms of the plenty are very bad for the tyres, so what could be the best track ?

thanks in advance

anton.

Hi Anton, Fastest way is the Sandover (far more direct). Plenty Highway is more scenic but both are flat dirt and straight. You should have no problems this time of year! Regards - Linda (ExplorOz)

Anton I have recently used both of these roads. The fastest way is via the Plenty and then at the border go to Urandangie and then out to the Boulia Mt Isa road. It took me about 10 hours from Harts Range to the Isa travelling at around 80 kph.
