Hey Dave,
Last year while visiting my brother at (Moopina Stn.)
Eucla, he drove us over to the jetty without a prob. in a LC ute. Must admit it was after good rains and also low dunes going in from the west at that time.
But as mentioned, the drifting sands can change daily specially in Sept. winds.

I lived in the remaining ruins at 'old
Eucla' for about 13 years (1948-1962) as my family owned the 'township' many moons ago. They signed it over to my brother, and he handed over to National Heritage (or whatever it is over there) when the ridiculous and un-affordable public liability insurance came into being a few years back.
My Dad built the first Motel (now used as staff quarters) on top of the escarpment right on the corner of the old
Eucla Pass which leads to the Old Telegraph Station.
There is an interesting little museum at the Amber Motel worth a quick visit too.
