That was me in the Heritage Listed Pajero on the way back from helping run a youth camp near
Port Victoria. Great weekend but no
4WDriving for me. I arrived Friday night and set up with the few trail blazers and was looking forward to a weekend sand driving with groups of kids.
When I woke up the next morning the Paj was surrounded by tents put up by the late arrivals who blew in after midnight. And there it sat for the next 3 days.
Still it was a great weekend. Highlights for me were:
. Saturday arvo slicing up 40 squid tubes fresh from the ocean and plonking them straight onto the barby with salt and pepper and feeding the hordes who followed the smell.
. Sunday night helping to
cook a ripper stew for 80 people in 6 camp ovens over an open fire.
. Sitting around a big campfire sharing the wisdom of age with the ones who were too tired to run screaming for the hills.
. Having a yarn with the 3rd generation farmer who owned the place when he dropped in for a feed on Saturday night.
Good weekend.
We got home on Monday and I only took the fridges out of the Paj because I have to repack Wednesday night for a Thursday departure to do some work up near Mildura then off on Friday arvo to the
Grampians for a weeks holiday.
Cheers
Pete
