CV joints - Holden Jackaroo

Has anyone got any experience/ tips on changing a torn inner CV boot on a 1996 Holden Jackaroo?

In particular I am trying to find out if it is possible to dismantle the inner joint without fully removing the half shaft. The way I was going to do this was to dismantle the upper ball joint on the suspension by taking off the castle nut; then removing the brake assembly (via the two bolts on the inner side). I am hoping this will provide enough space to pull the internals out of the inner CV joint.

T, I did mine about 4 months ago, mind you it did take me a while to put the cv joint back together after it came appart! the circlip inside the housing takes a bit of getting out too, but it is a relatively easy proceedure.

Further to the previous post, get yourself some Mecatech CV boots ant the fitting tool, then it will be as easy as possible and you will have superb quality rubber as well.

Opps, forgot to mention - do yourself a favour and replace all the boots at the same time. When one of the OE boots cracks, usually at about 8 years or sooner if a lot of 4WD engagement is used, the others are not far behind.

Its too big a job to do twice in a short time span.
