Submitted: Wednesday, Oct 04, 2006 at 11:33

Donald A

Hello all,
Referring to previous posts 37862, 37953 and 38017
Believe it or not.................
May I share the good will that Nissan Australia have decided to Replace Completely the 3.0 TD Motor in our 2004 STL Patrol with a new Long Motor.
It took a lot of hard work & research but I finally got through.
my compliments to all,
cheers
Don

Hi Don,

That really is great news for you. Its unfortunate Nissan take so much prodding to do what should have been done in the first place. It costs them the same $$$ in the end, but they lose any goodwill with their customers. And thats something $$$ cannot buy.

Cheers

Good for you

But "new Long Motor", is this a typo or are they replacing it with something different to the standard 4-pot 3.0L diesel?

Cheers

Snowy,
Long motor means engine, complete with head.
Short motor means, engine complete without head....

The head (long motor) is a significant difference to a short motor in a modern engine because the head holds a significant value, multivalves, camshafts etc etc...

That's really good news. I would like to know why the piston cracked in the first place though!

Hi Don

Now thats the best news I've heard today!

Congratulations for your perseverance with Nissan.

Wouldn't you think Nissan would try and win the PR battle and just agree to replace the engine instead of trying to bluff you into paying or whatever?

Better still, they should recall all ZD30 engines that have not already been replaced and do the right thing by their customers.

Keep on 4wd in your ZD30 Patrol!

regards
Phil

Is this the one you dismantled yourself?
If so, good result for sure!
Next time it blows up, either;
1/ dont pull it apart yourself
2/ sell the b.tch before anything else goes wrong!

cheers!

Can all the Nissan 3.0 TD problems be put on the one web page,, so all can see ??

And collectively bring Nissan to bear the full cost of replacement ,, have been wondering about a class action ?? or do Nissan refuse to talk to a collective group of very grumpy owners ,, and pick off one at a time (the latter me thinks)

A $50,000 + lemon is not on !

I feel for each and every one of the owners of the ZD30 syndrome, after all I too am the proud owner of a ZD30 TD motor ,, but its in a Navara ,, and being a lot lighter vehicle I can only keep my fingers crossed ..

Cheers Bucky
