Hi guys and gals,I have a 100 series Landcruiser, when I run the airconditioner I am getting a major water leak under the glove box about 40 minutes into my journeys resulting in a large puddle of water on the floor on the passenger side.Just wondering if anyone out there has had the same problem. Is there a fix for it??? Anybody know a good repairer for this problem in the Sydney area??? Thank you

I had a similar problem in a landcruiser. It turned out that there was a plastic hose that ran from the air con to the outside that was blocked. Check up under the glovebox and you may find this hose isn't where it should be. I'll bet that the air con doesnt pool under the vehicle when run for a while ? Thats the hose problem.

barely, sounds as if you have a blocked a/c drain. Unblock it and your problem should be solved. Should be a plastic drain line under the car, find that, unblock it and your problem should be over. Some other 100 series owner will probably tell you where the drain is. Hope this helps? John

Yeah find the drain line under the car and stick a piece of wire up it or give it a shot of compressed air to clear the blockage and all should be sweet.

Hi guys,I have checked the hose that runs out under the bonnet, there is no evidence of a blockage at all.All is clear, water seems to be coming out there, but the majority of the water is ending up on the floor of the passenger side.Seems the problem is under the glove box area.

Hi there barely, definately from the air con box, either as said above tube (drain) is blocked or the pipe has come off the drain box, you might still be getting some water out through the tube but obviously not the full amount so is backing up pooling in the air con (evaporator) box then overflowing onto floor,my hilux does this every now and then look under the vehicle and yes water dripping but then the wife will yell ahhh freezing cold water dripping on her feet, so I just get a cable tie and pull off rubber outlet hose from evap box and stick up the hole to clear it, I really need to pull the box right out as I think I have a leaf in there that keeps working its way over to the hole and blocking it, I dont use wire incase you happen to pierce the evaporator then your in the bleep thats why I use a cable tie at least it will bend if you stick it up too far.I doubt there would be a hole in the box unless your've been drilling up under the dash for some reason. You should be able to pull the plastic hose off from directly under the box instead of trying to get it from under the vehicle. Regards Steve M

This is a common problem across most makes and models of vehicles. Usually caised by dust and dirt sitting in the ac condesor collector tray and eventually being flushed down the small drainage tube, eventually blocking it off.

Outcome is the tray ends up overflowing onto the carpet (first thought is usually the heater core, but a good clue is whether it smells sweet. If is does then it is the core). Tends to be worse in the summer months when you yse the A/C the most, and worse in more humid environments.

Another common problem is the rubber tubes get kicked and dislodged from the hole in the firewall (still work OK - no blockage - but deposits the water inside on the floor rather than outside via the hole in the floor/firewall)

Hi barelythere
Has the windscreen ever been replaced?? Had this problem with a Hilux from our work fleet though not with our 100s L/C, same air con unit though. When the Hilux windscreen was replaced the old rubber seal shavings were allowed to go down the vent grill at the bottom of the windscreen and found their way into the evaporator box. Would clean the drain out only to have it block again and again. In the finish took the whole air con out from behind the dash and dismantled it, full of rubber shavings. The glass Co didn't want to know.
Clive.

Hi - mate of mine with a 100s had a problem with a leaky heater core which is associated with the A/C. He also had water appearing similar to what you have described. To replace it the dash had to be removed.

This might explain the musty smell my 100 developed soon after new. The dealer 'deororised' the aircon but the smell persists. Still under warranty so back to the dealer tomorrow!

Mate I had same problem with my 100 series, checked all obvious as stated, hose blocked etc, but still found water under glove box. If you remove the glove box you will see a rectangle lookin plate which the water drips off to the lower right side of glove box space. If you carefully remove 2 or 3 srews (cant remember how many) on this plate you will find a thin seal made of foam in behind (if still there). I suppose you could get new seal from toyota but i just cut an new one out of some foam rubber that i had in shed. Not a drop of water inside since. the problem is the seal is made of foam so when soaked in water it acts like a wick. if you look carefully for where water drips from you will see plate i am talking about. Hope this helps Richy.
