Hi All,

I have had the chip installed for about a week now, and all is well.

I had a previous issue with blowing a fuse after the installation, but the autoelectrian found a bare wire causing the short, so I can't blame the chip.

Anyway, performance has really improved, but what I like best is the extra torque at low revs.

I now get good acceleration from 1400rpm, where originally it would lag until about 1800 - 2000rpm before turbo would kick in and then power.

Fuel economy does not seem to be much different, but if so not a problem.

So all is well that ends well, and I am taking the car 4x4ing this weekend to test out in sand.

Sand was previously a painfull experience, always having to keep the revs up otherwise engine would bog down really quickly, so should be a good test.

I will let everyone know of the improved performance next week

Thanks

Hey M8,

What made you decide on the Steinbauer chip rather than others such as Dtronic and Diesel Performance chip?

Just interested as I am wanting to get one as well or the diesel gas conversion for the extra power and torque.

Regards

I have a DP Chip on my L/C 100 and overall performance is excellent. Towing a 25' Jayco on a recent trip was much better than without. Fuel economy towing the van averaged 19L per 100Klms and around town I get around 11L per 100Klms.

This morning I had the DP Chip guys fit two to my Searay boat, twin Cummins 540's. Tested without and with. Set at half way setting top speed was up 3KPH, top revs up 200 and fuel usage down 4LPH on each engine. Also getting on the plane was much quicker.

Hi Dieseljuice,

When I went to the diesel mechanic that installs them, he said they were all similar price, and he thought this type gave better results, performance etc.

So I went on his recommendation.

I can't say there was any skill on my part understanding the difference between all of them.

Thanks

Tony,
Have had one on my Patrol for about 5 months and really like the way it performs. Especially when towing the van. I'm sure you will be more than happy with it.

cheers,bobk

Hi Tony
I fitted a Safari Dtronic to my 3L GU IV and found similiar results. I then fitted a 2 3/4 inch mandrel bent exhaust for a similiar improvement again.

After much research I took advantage of the Hyclone money back guarntee and fitted 2 Hyclones. The improvement was dramatic. Turbo lag is almost gone. Fuel economy is about the same.

The vehicle is always partially loaded with a roof rack and drawers full of tools, I averages about 12 L / 100K. Fully loaded with camping trailer and spare tyres etc the vehicle averaged about 14.5 l/100K over 5000 K of mostly dirt roads on a recent trip.

I have done about 7000 K with this setup over 2 - 3 months and I am very happy with the results. I am very tempted to fit 2 more hyclones just to see the results.

Cheers
Bill
