Will it run it?

I have been told the Honda 2.0 will run the 'Dometic' caravan air con with no problems.

I have read somewhere the start up watts can be as high as 4500watts. So with the Honda being 2000watts I am having some doubts what its peak is.

or is it not that simple?

Do I need an invertor to make up for the watts on start up.

Does anyone have this particular model of air con and uses a Honda 2.

Cheers
John

John,i went through this about 12mths ago, although i am not sure what brand my aircon is i think it maybe the same.Anyway so to be sure there were not going to be a issue i bought the larger Kipor the 3 with the inverter i have not been able to use it while away as of yet but i have tried it at home & runs it without any hassels. If you can borow or hire one of the Honda's to try before you buy would be a good idea.If you can get hold of one then crank it up (the aircon) to max for an hour or even half an hour to see how it go's.Good luck with it.:o))

Hi Derek,

Are you able to run your Honda eu2.0 and Heron 2.2 with the eco throttle switched on?

In my case (with the same setup), unless the generator is running full throttle, the Honda cant "spool" up quick enough to meet the startup power requirement of the Heron 2.2, it goes into overload protection mode.

Thanks,
Rob

Hi Rob,

I run the Honda on normal mode. It has cut out once or twice when on eco so now when I run the a/c I leave it on normal.

John, have a Dometic B1900S and it is powered quite well with a Honda EU20i on eco throttle. I understand that the manufacturer will only provide the guarantee with the Honda unit for stability and surge. The Honda was charging the battery at the time too and running the fridge. :-0

I don't know what the starting current requirement is to compare.
