New Landcruiser Ute

I do not have a great deal of information as of yet however as far as I know the vehicle will be released toward the end of the first quarter next year. Apparantly it will embrace all new engine technology with a 4.7 V8 Turbo Diesel which as you can imagine will reset the bench mark for others to follow.

There quoteing $55000 now for current model almost the same as a wagon.

maybe Toyota are brining the Tundra out here with the option of a 4.7L petrol engine or a 4.4TD V8 - makes more sense. The 2007 Tundra in the US also has a 5.7L V8 petrol engine option.

Ugly it might be but it'll grow on ya like a good woman, besides it is not looks that do the work
Like the Yaris when they first come on the market I thought what an unattractive piece of crap that is but now if I were to be in the market for a car Yaris would be it

Someone else reckoned its the real thing but some of the body modifications they do to landcruisers in the ME makes me suspect its a custom job.

Spoke with a dealer on the weekend who said the release date was late March. He had a photo of the 4 door troopy (bit different to Ross's) which was a wider, slightly more rounded version of the 79 (without the high roof). In line with Toyota's current policy I'd describe it's looks as pretty bland & outdated. He didn't have the full specs yet but it was earmarked to get a single turbo V8. The twin turbo V8 that has been mentioned is apparently for the up spec wagon replacement. (no release date on that)
A 4 door solid axle V8 turbo diesel........ I'd suggest Nissan will have a little bit of trouble matching that :-)

You will be disappointed if you're a die-hard Toyota fan, Crackles.... Nissan will be using a 4.5L V6 turbo-diesel from Navistar International with similar power and torque to the Toyota 4.4 - but if you are like me, and just want more choices of good cars on the market, you will see that both of them will be a much better improvement to what we have now...and with Ford getting a 4.4L TDV8 for F150 and F250 coming out soon with a 6.4L TDV8 - all these choices are going to be awesome - especially when they hit the second hand market.

The so called 4dr troopy will be what has been known as HZJ77 since 1990 in Japan ,really nothing to do with a troopy. Probably more like a stretched BJ70.
The windscreen back is the same as a LJ78
