Mike Harding

Whilst searching for something else I came across the following book on the website of an radio/tuner manufacturer. It's a 1.2MB PDF.

Contains lots of good reference, definitions and technical information about HF radio. It's presented in a non technical style, as much as possible.

Read somewhere recently that the proposed BPL (Broadband Over Powerlines) technology (if it ever get's off the ground) will seriously affect the HF spectrum.
Anyone have any feedback on this?

Yes. BPL is a "Bad Thing" and I trust it will not be commercially viable in Oz as, I believe, has largely been the case in the US. It should be stopped by legislation anyway otherwise it makes a mockery of all the electronic "emissions" compliance those of us who design electronic equipment have had to jump through hoops in order to comply with for the past 10 years or so.

I had no idea the tentacles of this issue spread so far.
I wonder how the pollies will react to te first death caused by BPL affecting communications with organisations like the Australian Royal Flying Doctor Service?
