marble bar road

Gday All

I have to drive from perth to KNX next week, and was chasing a bit of info on the best route.....By the maps etc it is 75k less to go on the marble bar road instead of the great northern highway. Can anyone tell me if the shorter route is the best, or is the road condition not up to scratch? (I won't be taking the Marble Bar road option if I am towing a Jayco to Pt Headland!)

Cheers Andrew

Just heard from Rotord that his camper won't be in Perth in time for me to tow it north for him, so I am open to any offers once again!

Thanks Davoe - how much of the road is sealed? - I will be carting a bit of computer gear, and assorted crissie presents ranging from pushbikes to wine glasses so I don't want to rattle it too much

Andrew,

If you go through Nullagine and Marble Bar the roads should be fine. It saves about an hour over the trip and breaks up the monotony of the blacktop. After Marble bar if you turn towards Bamboo Creek and follow that road past the turn off to coppins gap you will come across the road that leads to yarrie Mine. Turn left here and follow it past yarrie and through the old Shay Gap townsite it goes all the way through to the Gt Northern Hwy abou t 100kms short of sandfire roadhouse. This is called the boreline road. The roads through here are good gravel but can have small patches of bulldust.

Cheers Matt.

Thanks Matt - but at the moment I think I'll stay on the blacktop for the sake of an hour or so.....I don't want to break the crissie presents.....Its funny how you can be in two minds about something like this, put up a post, and get a reply for each of your mindsets!

Hello Andrew

It's raining steadily in Port Hedland , and more to come . I think we might see a lot of back roads cut shortly , and some cut up . There is a bed for you in Port Hedland if you get caught out . My mobile 0419 969845 .
