Hi All,

Just a couple of quickies

When di the troopcarriers go to coils spring front ends?

And when did they go to 5 stud wheels?

Or was that at the same time.

Glen.

Geoff,

Grey hair is hereditary, you get it from children. Baldness is caused by watching the Wallabies.

I have a September '99 Troopy that is a 75 series - so it must have been some time soon after then.

Glen,
In addition to those '99 changes, the rear leaf springs were made a lot longer, to improve ride. The leaf spring bushes also incorporated a metal sleeve to improve ride, and the rear shackles are longer. The cab on the 79series cab chassis was made 120mm deeper; The chassis on the cab chassis was made 200mm longer than the troopie. The wheel studs were made bigger (14mm vs 12mm) and the wheel nuts are now 22mm instead of 21mm. I think the dashboard was changed to incorporate the sub tank gauge into the other meters.

The 5 speed gearbox became a R151F, which had early issues with a gearbox to transfer shaft breaking but this was fixed by Toyota. And in late 2001, the factory TD was introduced as an option.

The designation was changed from 75series to 78/79series.
