bloody hell wrong again.....
candlepower is exactly that
candela is exactly that
lumens is exactly
watt did i say

watts is the power consumed to produce say 1 lumen
candle power, candela and lumens is the output

for example manufacturer A may use i watt/lumen while manufacturer B may only use .5watt/lumen (exagerated example)

Around 50w - varies a bit , as candle power they use is really reffering to how tight or fine the beam is focussed.

It does not really mean much. They are saying that the light at a certain distance from the lens is 'equivalent to' 2,000,000 candles. Some lamps are filled with exotic gases (xenon etc.) and give a different candle power output then say an ordinary filament in a vacuum for the same power (wattage) consumed.

I wouldn't worry about getting a torch. Just try to get one of those candles that they use in the movies. The candle that Allan Quartermain used in King Solomons mine was better than the very best set of Hellas !!!

If it's one of those which use a SLA battery my advice is forget it. 2M CP will use a _stack_ of power from the battery and the damn things always go flat when you need them most and take a few hours to recharge. Additionally most (all?) of them don't have anything to stop you flattening the battery down to zero so it ends up with a very short life.

Take a look at some of the new LED torches on the market - some very impressive stuff there now.

Candle power is crap. It's impossible to use as reference. On another note, I purchased an LED globe (well 3-in-1 actually) a couple of days go from Jaycar which replaces the std one in the dual AA battery Mag Light. My Opinion is that it's much brighter than the std globe but doesn’t focus like the std one does.
So if you're using it for broad beam then it's great, otherwise not so. About $15, Plus they say it saves battery life like, you know, ever bleep ing other LED something on the market.

They usually take a 12v H1 globe, which is either 55watt or 100watt.

When using my 1,OOO,OOO Candle power torch it's capable of seeing crocodiles eyes at so many hundreds of mtrs it's not scarey any more, you don't want to see them up close because the Barra probably won't be in the same area as the crocks.

At probably 1/2 Klm I can see as clear as day with-in the lit up area.

Battery stats are:
cycle use 7.25v - 7.45v
standby use 6.8v - 6.9v

It has a 6v - 55w globe
and that's only 1x million Candle Power

It recharges direct off my Inverter
