Trancks around Mt Warning?

Submitted: Friday, Mar 02, 2007 at 13:13

Scoey (QLD)

Hi all,

This weekend I'm going camping down at Mt Warning. I've never been to the area before so I don't really know what to expect. My folks are organising the trip.

Just wondering if anyone knows of any good tracks in the area we could have a crack at? I would have a go at most tracks (within reason of course) but my Dad would probably prefer something a little more sedate (read: A nicely graded dirt road! haha!) Basically I'm after easy to moderate tracks so that the old man can see what his trucks capable of, it's a stock TD Auto '01 Jackaroo - plus I wouldn't mind getting the 80 dirty too! ;-)

Any ideas?

Cheers
Scoey!

If you can't find any trancks you could always just run into Nimbin and sample some of their famous cookies..... then you won't care about bumping around in your fourbie anyway :)

Try the track up over Tomewin , that's a good track , go in via the Curumbin Valley to Tomewin then on to Mt Warningm and if you live in Brisbane , after Mt Warning go to Kyogle , keep on the Summerland Way to within 2.2klm of Roseberry , turn right up the Lions Rd over the ranges to Rathdowney,
Climbed Mt Warning twice, once barefoot.

There's a nice camp ground in the state forest about 1k off the main dirt drag around Mt Warning. MuBah through my Currumbin Valley is all tar but great views..quite scenic. Out through Nimbin I find a bit dreary, Kyogle is a nicer spot and a more interesting trip home through the back.
