WA desert trip -ROAD CONDITION

Submitted: Sunday, Apr 01, 2007 at 08:47

Bob of KAOS

We are travelling from Cocklebiddy to Balgo in a few weeks (leaving Cocklebiddy on 15 April). Route is Connie Sue, Heather, GBH, Gary, CSR.

There has been a fair bit of precipitation according to previous posts and the BOM rainfall maps. I see from the WA road report the top of the Tanami has been closed.

Does anyone know the condition of other roads in this region, including the Gary Junction Rd in case we have to exit through Kiwirrkurra/Kintore.

Bloody hell Bob, where ya been?? We thought you may have passed on..... LOL

Yeah it is going to be a wet drive this year. Getting to Balgo via the CSR might be tricky as Lake Gregory floods severely in the south. You might have to go via the bitumen to Halls Creek and then south. Or better still, fly in.

Anyway, drop in for a cuppa if you are passing through this way.

Cheers

Thanks for that.

I've been working flat out, but managed to squeeze in one trip last year - Flinders Ranges, O'datta, Uluru, SBJT, Yuendumu, Mt Wedge, Haasts Bluff, Alice.

We may have to be flexible with our travel plans if it hasn't dried out.
