I have just received an advice from Mitsubishi Motors stating"the positioning of the a/c drain of your vehicle may allow moisture to enter the clutch housing where evaporation can result in corrosion causing hard operation of the clutch pedal & difficult shifting of the gears just after starting thge engine. In the worse case, the clutch may be prevented from disengaging".
My pajero is a 3.2DID & I would appreciate any comments from other pajero owners on this subject.
It would appera that there is no drain hose fitted as the advice says that the dealer will fita a/c drain hose to your vehicle.

IS this an official notification ie. letter or just your local dealership mentioning the fact? I take it MM means a letter similar to a recall notice?

My warantee is due to expire in the next 3 months, so would like to make sure that any issues don't become my responsibility :-)

BTW, i don't see any problems with A/C drainage going over my clutch area, especially when i run the A/C continuously up here in North Qld.

Hi Andrew.
The letter is an official notification from Mitsubishi Motors Australia, Clovelly SA.
I don"t know how long the problem has existed, maybe the dealers fixed any problems when vehicles were serviced.
Vince.

this is an old issue

mainly causes problems when car has been used with a/c and then left for a few days...

we struck this with late nm's and early np's as council cars that are left at the depot over the weekend

i don't know why you would get a letter now

there was no recall on them ..... just an inspect at service bulletin..

Irecently advised M/M of change of ownership. Apparently first owner did not have drain hose fitted.

I've got the notice. Mine is an NP manual diesel and goes in next Monday. I'm going to try to find out a bit more about the problem next week.

all it is is that the drain hose from the a/c is too short and the water drips into the bellhousing. if the car is left to stand for a period of time, it creates a rust spot on the flywheel and the pressure plate. the fix is simply a longer hose running down the bell housing....... a piece of garden hose will do it

Donks is spot on with it being from the Air Con. It was reported in our forum ( forum.pajeroclub.com.au/forum/default.asp ) quite a while ago. Obviously the previous owner did not get notified . Normally they would put a sticker on vehicle near the tyre placard if the recall has been done.

I received my letter today after getting my 120,000 service YESTERDAY....you would thought that someone with a Mitsubishi dealership, where i have received regular services since new, would have the knowledge to do it at the same time!

Hi Andrew.
If this an old problem it makes you wonder why it wasn"t fixed at previous services!!!!
Have you had any clutch problems?

No clutch problems so far....touch wood, though i use the vehicle almost every day which could be the difference.
