Loud Valve train at startup.

Greetings tonight,,

My 12ht motor has a loud valve train at cold start up. It lasts only a few seconds and once lubricated, operates normally, I would only like to know if this is a normal trait of that particular motor.

THe 2h/12ht motor is known for wear on the rocker arm tip. You can adjust the clearence but it could still be 20thou out.
The rocker shaft is probably worn in your case. A problem with dirty oil, the contamination embeds in the bushes and laps a groove in the shaft.
Pretty easy fix, but how is the hot oil pressure holding up at idle?

The hot oil pressure idicates over half on the factory dash guage at running speeds and drops slowly to under half when slowed to idle. About a 1/4 each side.

I dont know how accurate the dash units are but i guess reasonably.

hay there ..i know this sounds silly ....try ..new oil...or maybe oil pick-ups clogged.....or Wynn's tunes up frees up sticky lifters..im not one for additives but it works
