Hello to all,
I have seen advertised a third door conversion kit for troopy's,the kit contains the frame work and door to suit . Apparentley to fit a panel beater can cut out the LH side and then weld in the frame and do their magic to finish the job. This is I believe a genuine Toyota product although I have never heard of such. Does anyone have knowledge of this door kit? and if so does it work?

thanks for any help Sludgie

Richard.

I had a quick search late last night, I came across this thread that was talking about Toyota mods, which happens to be what sludgie is talking about A modification to a Toyota.

But in future, I will put my post to you first so as you can sensor it.

How come you don't sensor the replies that start with.

I'm sorry I can't help you this but, because these post end up being posts that hijack threads.

My info is free and people can do what they like with it.

Steve.

Have a look at Overlander Mag. I'm sure I've seen an ad for the third door there.
Thought it was bloody dear too.....oldbaz.

I thought that Toyota produced the 3 door troopie specifically for the Ambos etc.

I may be wrong but it may be easier to find one already done!!

Cheers Kev

Hey Sludgie,

I think I saw such a vehicle with the extra door in one of the 4WD mags, like someone above said, these ones were a telstra/gov vehicle, not sure of availability of a genuine kit for the general public.

I used to see the same dark grey 75 series troopy heading up Hepburn Ave in the mornings. Nice looking troopy! Not sure if it still belongs to the Michelle Sacs guys/girls.

I guess you need to really trust the panel beater, the wife and I saw a couple of really poor efforts when we first started looking for a 4WD... get a bit rusty round the edges if not done 100%.

Cheers,

Ross.

The Michell sacks one is different, it has 4 lift up side doors, apparently there were only 5 made for telstra, in WA.
I saw one yesterday in a main street as i wized past, I think it was Peterborough SA
I thought the ambulance ones were convertions out of melb, never heard of them being toyota special build?

Cheers Pesty

No, Google is not hard to use.If you read my original post your site link does not answer my question, nor did Polans when I phoned them.

Sludgie,
I have had a third door put in the troopy by Polans of Dandenong. Fantastic job but pretty expensive ($5500 with GST). It is made from fibreglass and uses Toyota door handles and your own window which is shortened. This was done a few years ago so could be dearer today but I have had no problems at all with it. Sorry can't help with a genuine Toyota product.
