70 series gearbox failures

one of the guys at work was saying that hes heard the new v8 70series are having problems with gearbox failure
i know i know he has only heard but not seen it him self
question is has anyone else heard of this happening or is his source just a disgrunteled i can now only buy a 3 ltr nissan owner.

Wouldn't greatly surprise me.
Just as Nissan had "problems" with the early 3 litre diesels, Tojo have always had gearbox and other drive line issues.
One of my friend's mates recently destroyed the gearbox (almost blew it to bits effectively) on his 5 year old Cruiser. Yes he was 4WD ing and I suspect giving it a bit of stick, but still not happy, he's currently looking for a complete new box as the other is a complete writeoff!

you can walk into our work shop any day of the week and we will have either a diff or gearbox being repaired
at the moment we have 1 gearbox with stuffed 3rd synchro and two diffs

I heard from a mate that his mates mate just brought a new 3lt crd patrol and on the way home it blew up and nissan wont cover it cause he drove over a gutter!
