Garmin's Technology better

These ADVANCED POIs replace the default 'Chime' with a spoken voice that announces the POI you are approaching. e.g. when approaching a 60 km speed camera the unit announces "60 kilometer speed camera ahead" .

These ADVANCED POI's have been pre-compiled and must therefore be manually installed onto the compatible Garmin GPS. If you are not familiar with computers and file systems we recommend you install the STANDARD version. These ADVANCED POIs cannot be installed using the POI Loader.

These Advanced POIs are only suitable for the following Garmin models:

Nuvi 300
Nuvi 310
nuvi 660
Zumo 550
STP 7200
C510 *
* Currently the C510 does not support the voices in these POIs but will still provide the default 'Chime'.

To install these POIs please download and follow the instructions provided below.

Download Advanced Red-light Camera POIs (ZIP file).
Download Advanced Speed Camera POIs (ZIP file).
Download Advanced Redlight-Speed Camera POIs (ZIP file).
Download Advanced School Zones
Download INSTRUCTIONS for Advanced Talking POI Installation (PDF file).
Please follow these carefully

These instructions will be on my POI web site too shortly

Downloaded them the other day and the voice that announces the warnings is way to soft compared to the normal route instructions, pretty cool but.

Yeh I love Garmins, and I know what makes them tick, as for Mapsource and Garmins there is a lot of people who bugger all about how the Garmin system works , you might be able to download someone else's maps but that's all you'll do with it , it will be useless, You need to buy your own copy and then it needs to be linked to the GPS serial No, the Software CD serial, then get a 25 digit code from Garmin ,
To load other maps ie only Garmin or Tracks 4 Australia you must upload all the selected maps from the PC at once, you cannot upload just one extra section, it deletes all previous maps at each upload, as for T4A it is best to install it to the SD card , you get asked that option during upload. If you have any questions feel free to ask , If i know the answer , you'll get it.

Yes you must have the Mapsource installed on the PC along with the T4A and upload it altogether, Not sure about that free business, I think you really need to have purchased the Toppo Map CD from OzGPS first as is what I got, see link. I did not install the Contours because they take up 590mb of space and I needed that for MP3s on the SD card

Trip waypoint manager SHOULD HAVE come with the GPS, not an extra buy like City Navigator, which uses mapsource as its run engine

How you doin'
Mate the Trip waypoint manager for Garmin is an extra buy from Garmin retailers as the likes of Johnny Appleseed , The situation is that if you have Mapsource you do not need the Waypoint Manager because all trips and Waypoints are handled by Mapsource,

Yep its all very strange.
When you go to download or buy any maps it says you need mapsource(seems you can`t buy it as a add on) or Trip Way point Manager which when you read about that it says you can`t load new maps with it.
Im lost with this gps lol

Yes it can get very confusing and frustrating , don't worry , I had my times too ,
OK so it states on the free Download page .................
You must have a Mapsource program on your PC (Trip and Waypoint Manager, City Navigator etc).

So either one will do so you get the cheapest which is Waypoint Manager from J.A Some in-car navigators that come with maps pre-loaded, are not supplied with computer mapping, so you should check if you need to purchase a Mapsource product. This may be as simple as Trip and Waypoint Manager, which is less than $60.
