We head off in just under 2 weeks to the Simpson Desert via Oodnadatta track. I can't get up to date info on any water at Halligan Bay out from William Creek. Has anyone actually been there recently. What locality is any water in Lake Eyre currently? I'd appreciate any info which is from the last couple of weeks. Thanks. Chris.

Hasn't been water in that part of Lake Eyre for about 5 years.

The recent water is drying up and was confined to the north part of the Lake.
Wrights Air haven't updated their photos for a while - maybe its mostly dried up????

Thanks Phil. I looked up the flights too but didn't get any report there. We'll visit anyway. Wouldn't miss it. Chris.

Belt Bay had about 6 inches of water in it when we flew over it 4 weeks ago. Could have dried up by now. Get in touch with Wrights Air. Awesome sight. Enjoy!

Your may find the website of the Lake Eyre Yacht club helpful...

As mentioned by others, there is no water in the Lake - but you may still wish to visit it out of interest. The media always seems like to create hype about water in Lake Eyre - with one particulat TV channel on several occassions in the past showing footage of the 1974 floods under the guise of "present conditions"

Love that lakeeyreyc site.

It's a abit of a giggle, having a yacht club out there but they do provide some great info.

Just got back 16/06/07, no water but great Hamburger at William creek pub under new management, a little sand driving at Lake Torrens, no water. Lake Mary between Roxby & Woomera is full of water camping and skiing underway, miracle sun sets over lake. Oonattata track like a highway.
