There was a post a couple of weeks ago from someone who had been to Lorella Springs recently and loved it. Don't remember who it was, but an Archive search should find it.

We were in the Borroloola area (King Ash Bay) for 6 weeks recently (came home a couple of weeks ago) and had planned on going up to Lorella for a couple of days, but missed it as we ended up needing to come straight home.

From all I've heard and read it is worth a stop for a day or two.

What are you using for 'net access from Borroloola?

Hi Norm
Thanks for that info, we were undecided but may call in on the way past to see the place. I am using a Next G turbo card with a laptop which works in any mobile service area as you probably know and works like mobile phone plans that vary in price.Hope this helps your query.
Cheers, Bill

Mate it's simple... GO THERE...
You wont be disappointed...
It is beautiful... You will need 3 days at least there if you want to see some things..
5 if you want to see almost everything..
The property goes in 80kms...
With dozens of billabongs to fish in,,, we caught a cheripin the length of my wrist to my elbow..
If you are disappointed i will buy you an ale..
They have an awesome river called The Rosie,,, great place to launch a boat..

No probs...are you there yet>????? lol...
It's a real bush camp feel with flushing dunnies and showers at the main campsite which is the first area you get to....
There is also a 4 hr trip down the 80km track to the Rosie which is where you will pass heaps of billabongs,,,, Freshies in the Billabongs and Salties at the river down the end..From memory you are only 10kms from the mouth when you get to the river..
No immenities at the river..
We got to main campsite 1st day and stayed there then got to the river on 2nd morning and fished it all day from the banks,, stayed there that night and then went back to the main campsite the next day and stayed there 3rd night..
There is a wicked hot spring right in the main campsite which is as big as a small swimming pool..
We missed quite a few other things the place had to offer....
There is a great ledge at the Rosie where can safely camp on top of...

Thanks for all that info, Grant

Doing a slow trip that way after Warraweena and will check out Lorella Springs. Was in that area in the mid 80's but the place wasn't on the map as a tourist operation then

Cheers

Glad to hear other people are going to enjoy it.
When we were there,, all they had were car bonnets and doors with writing on them leant up against rocks pointing into the property.

Hi to Willem & Drifters,
we were at Lorella in May & really enjoyed the place. If you go,tell Darlene & Rob that Barraman sent you & you'll be looked after. The highlight was a soak (with a beer or 3 ) in the springs in the late afternoon. Plenty to explore while there too. No fuel unless prior arrangements made.
Hope you also enjoy it.
Barraman.
