hi all, i own a 2.5 turbo diesel courier. with all the weight it has to carry when we all (2 adults and 3 kids) trip the old girl is dragging her backside and i find myself being overtaken by the wildlife. is it worth screwing a bit more out of the motor or is it better to do a power up with a bigger motor. it is a manual with about 135000 k's any opinions? thanks in advance.

From what I've seen of them and driven they are under powered even without a load. Had one at work and almost fell over when someone told me it had a turbo!
My wife's hair drier is bigger!

If your going to be doing a lot of touring and pulling of trailers, etc or carrying a fair load get a new, more capable vehicle or drop in a V8.

Hi Robert,

If your courier TD has a conventional mechanical injection pump (not an electronically-controlled system), please contact me direct and I may have some info which is helpful. (By the way, this is not a sleezy sales pitch).

Robert I owned a Mazda Bravo 2.5 TD and gave it a bit of a kick by replacing exhaust system with larger dia. make sure it doesn't have the Cat replaced... Also make sure you have a snorkel fitted with a better filter to increase the breathing. I then took it to good diesel tuner. He informed these (Mazda/Courier are the vehicles with the widest range in power/economy between vehicles. After he tuned it, it had at least 25% more power, and the exhaust/filter had lowered its power torque rev range, with power coming on down around 1700rpm
