GU 4.2 oil leak at sensor.

Hi,

I've got an oil leak in the front of a GU, towards the top of the engine where a set of wires run to what I believe might be a sensor. I recall sometime ago reading about oil leaks from the speedo sensor being common. Is this the case? Any ideas on a fix, this is the second time it's happened, first time under warranty?

Thanks

Hi,
sounds like the tacho sensor, mounted high on the timing cover, just below the water outlet, with a pair of wires which come out. It's a relatively solid block, and I doubt if oil would seep thru it. I suspect that a new gasket and sealant will probably fix it.
I've owned a GQ and a GU and never had problems with the sensor.

Thanks Gerry,

That'll be the one. Wasn't sure how it sealed, if it's just a gasket it'll be easy to replace.

Thanks again.
