G'day Geoff, can't remember the name of it, but we stayed in the van park right next to the Lightning Ridge Hotel Motel two years ago. It was clean & tidy & well looked after. The ground was hard as hell & made it a bit difficult to get our annexe pegs in though ! The pub offered great meals at reasonable prices & had a huge big open fire, friendly staff & a great atmosphere. Loved the place, we stayed just short of a week. Enjoy your trip.

if you want a great place to stay there is a cattle station lorne station about 5 ks out of town we stayed ther last year powered and unpowed or cabins moveable fireplaces (put the rocks where you best decide) we found a lot of the park sites were pretty small
if you go there ask for alan or chris tell them steve and denny will be back
mate what a great place we didnt want to come home
there was a story about a couple of weeks ago a woman was having a bit of a noodle at box of dirt outside the tourist info on a sat but nothing locals put more dirt in over nite she went back sunday and picked out 2 stones worth about $20000 bet the bloke who msupplied that lot of dirt was spewing
you have to ask about lorne we asked about fires in the c/ps noway but theres a place out of town(lorne)we were told other vwise tourist info just sends you to a park

Geoff, we stayed in Lightning Ridge last July and at the park on the property. We thought that the ones in town, whilst pretty convenient were quite crowded with even vans parked in the entrance driveway in one instance. Plenty of room out of town. The hot baths were always crowded and as we dont like scrubbling around in the dirt thought that two nights or was it three nights were long enough but we do own a new set of opal earrings.

enjoy your trip
