Waiting for new Prado

Submitted: Tuesday, Jul 03, 2007 at 10:35

Just wondering if there are any other inpatient souls out there waiting for their new Prado?

We ordered one 11 weeks ago & were told it would be 12 weeks. We have just been told it could be up to another 5 weeks, and they are not even sure about that.

Very frustrating when they have already taken our car for tradein!

Just wondering if there is anyone out there still waiting or have received a new one & if so how long you had to wait??

Have just got back from telling TJM where to site the various non genuine options and can't wait for friday.

Know exactly how you feel and I sold my cruiser in the first week of April, so have been a 1 car family for 3 months.

1/6/07 Scheduled for production
14/6/07 In transit with pick up 4/7/07(dealer)
20/6/07 On land being prepared for transport with pick up 27/6/07 (dealer)

Why have they taken your trade-in? I have always held onto my trade-in till the new vehicle is delivered, latest was with a 3month wait for a D40.
The week the new one was supposed to arrive they rang with and said that it would be delayed another week so I said thats fine with me as I'm off for a month this weekend so i'll pick up and pay for it when i get back, amazing they had it on a flatbed that night and delivered 2 days later.

As Chris & Debbie have said why have they got your trade in ?? Ask them for it back till your new one is ready OR tell them you want a loan car no expense on your behalf. They also have an obligation to deliver the vehicle by the date set out on your paperwork (contract) or other wise you can tell them to jam it as they have broken their contract to you hence probably why they have kept hold of your trade in. Have they given you (should have) a stock/order number chassis no and dealers name ?? if so email me back with it. Will have an answer for you tomorrow as to where your vehicle is. . Regards Steve M

Thanks everyone for your replies!!

Spewing that you are all going / or have been through the same experience… but must admit it is nice to know that we are not alone!

As for why they have taken our car as trade in, they told us if we didn’t give it to them in June it would devalue and not be worth as much for trade in if we kept it. We’ve never traded before so I guess we got sucked in. So basically they have a $26,000 deposit, plus $1,000 cash and we have the joy of being a one car family.

Stephen M – I have just looked at our paperwork & there is no delivery date stated. I finally got our batch number today, after numerous phone calls it is 3294449. The dealership is Yarra Valley Toyota Croydon & our surname is Harrison. Any info you could get us would be sensational.

Peter R - Good luck Friday – green with envy

Chris & Debbie – nice work on your behalf!

Deserter – Thanks, I’m glad to hear its worth the wait.

So I guess for us it will be a few more months of 2 adults , 2 dogs & a baby in a corolla, nice work Toyota!!

I guess I was lucky. Only waited 4 weeks for the D4D auto back in Feb. Was worth the wait. What an utterly fantastic car. Oh what a feeling !!!

We have ordered a new pathfinder and have been told the wait is about three months or September, we ordered it the second last weekend in June.

We could not afford the new Prado, and we ( I ) did not want to drive around in big car like a cruiser or patrol, as I just take the kids to school and do shopping and I do under 15,000km a year. We are driving from Perth to Tassie in December, pulling a caravan.

Just sit on the managers desk until they give you back your trade-in or something decent to drive (another Playdoe or similar).

Don't let yourself get pushed around - take the 2 dogs and baby in there and don't leave until they sort you out. If need be start making a fuss in front of their customers - that tends to get them moving.

Hi there Mange, I rang Toyota today where I use to work and he couldnt help me as Yarra Valley is not on line with them. He did say Toyota have a help line and you should quote them that number and they can tell you where toyota is at with your vehicle. He also informed me Lander Toyota at Blacktown (where I use to work) is only recieving one turbo prado a month. They are getting orders for 10 a week. At the moment it is a 6 month waiting list untill they can crank up production of the diesel motor. V6 you can have one tommorow. Sorry I couldnt have been of more help just hope when you do get it the wait was worth it there a great vehicle. Good Luck and enjoy. Oh yeah and I 'd take Andrews advice. Stuff having one vehicle for the next few months, and tell them if you dont get yours back or a loan vehicle even if its some one elses trade in you'll be cancellling the deal. Regards Steve M

Thanks heaps for your help Stephen, that's amazing how many are being ordered. Sounds like half the country will be driving around in them when we finally all get them!

I called that number you mentioned and have been told that it should be getting into the country at the end of August, but by the time processed etc it should be ours in the first week of September. It will definetly want to be worth the wait April to Sept!

But it isn't too far away I guess, and we just keep looking at the brochures, and Prados in supermarket car parks to get us through!!

Thanks again for everyones ears for my whinging, and help as well. Cannot wait till September!!!!
