Turbos - Water or Oil Cooled???

Will be buying a 4cyl Turbo Diesel shortly and have question cooling. The Courier / Bravo range have water cooled turbos. Is this a major benefit over the oil cooled units??

Oil cooled uses engine oil, which causes it to heat up lots more, and thus wear the oil quicker.

Water cooled, also use seperate water container on some, which then takes the heat away from the motor...

I think most, if not all, original equipment turbos are now water cooled. In addition they are also oil lubricated by the engine oil.. The cooling seems to be directed at the bearing area between the exhaust turbine and the compressor .
I have a 2000 Bravo "Cab Plus" tray back. The latest version with the doors to the rear area looks like a real winner. Fantastic storage.
Heading to the Flinders next week.
