SNORKEL FITTING TO 3LTR T/D PATROL

G`day peoples,can any one tell me if they`ve fitted an Airtech/genuine Nissan snorkel to they`re GU Patrol.If so is it easy?...or should i pay to get it fitted profesionally?Any advise as per fitting myself or somewhere to buy them the cheapest or recommended installer would be appreciated.I live in Bacchus Marsh. Vic region but can travel to Melb.My local Nissan dealer price for the snorkel is $395 and i dare not ask how much for them to fit!I don`t like the Safari version........thanks in advance Jeremy.

I can tell you a few nightmare stories of wrong templates coming with Snorkels, and people cutting holes in their guards in wrong spots if you like... Then no comeback to the snorkel people, just a new template AFTER they send the wrong one back.


$100 alan at Outback Accessories in Seaford charges to install one.. If you get round this way that is...

Cheap at double the price.. GU guards and paint seems to be very expensive...

I had Nissan fit me a Nissan snorkel when the car was new. Fitting cost wasn't excessive and everything was backed by a warranty.

GU guards aren't cheap!

Must be cheaper plastic here in QLD, my Nissian dealer quoted me $350 for the same product. I spoke to the mechanic who fits them and he said they aren't to difficult to fit. But as truckster writes, it could be an expensive exercise if you do something wrong or get the wrong template.

It's a bit like insurance do you take the risk or not? My genuine snorkel was fitted pre delivery by ARB - yep even my nissan dealer in sydney didn't want to cut holes in a perfectly god car.

I agree with everyone else, it is a brave man who take to a perfectly good GU gaurd with a hole saw!

Just bought a new GU 4.2 intecooled 4.2td and Nisssan charged me $470 to supply and fit and they get someone else to fit it, it think says it all!

Hi Jeremy, Truckster says it costs $100 to install one, so it must only take 1 1/2 hours to complete the install if you know what your doing. Trouble is, all the mistakes are made fitting the first one, its easy after that. Michael

thankyou to everyone for your advise,i`m definetly swinging over to professional fitment now!Anyone who`s not convinced of a snorkel being essential offroad;think again!On our recent trip up tp Innaminka and down the Strezlecki to the Flinders ranges i didn`t feel the need to check the air filter(foolish hey) but when home found it containing lots of crap not to mention half the filter caked in mud and we were trying to avoid bog holes etc on the tracks ........yep a snorkel is on the shopping list..............safe travels!
