We had an amazing time even though we had been before. The thing that struck us most this time was the friendliness of the locals on the journey there and back. and how much we enjoyed our chats with them. Also the cameraderie of fellow travellers. What an awesome country we live in! Chris.

Chris

Your suffering from what is known as "Desert Fever". It'll pass in time.

Good to hear you had an enjoyable trip.

Regards

Kim

I'll second that. Last crossing was in the 1980's. Was playing on the real Big Red 2 weeks ago and nearly disappeared west. Had to jam on the brakes to stop myself going back into the Simpson.

Ok, I'll revise my reply.

Chris

Your suffering from Desert fever. The condition is terminal, and becomes expensive in the latent stage of the illness!

LOL

yes I think it is a permanent condition. We were already planning our next trip on the way home. We even detoured to do some of the border track near Pinnaroo to experience just that bit more before getting back to the grind. Chris.

Have a wonderful trip and stop to smell the desert roses. We actually do want to go o/s but don't expect it to be the same kind of experience as you get in the outback. I don't like the thought of crowds but would like to see Europe then scurry home to the best place on Earth..

Hi Chris

Lovely stuff all right - we are in habit of slotting in a dessert trip on way back also , and did border track a couple of days ago (fun as night descended).

With some of the best dessert driving actually in Vic its not to hard to keep the addiction going via long weekends.

Hello Robin,

We read your description of the return journey from Warraweena and it sounds as though it was both interesting and enjoyable. If you're back up in the Mallee country we'd enjoy catching up with you again. We're off next week end for a bit of trip out around Wyperfeld and Lake Albacutya.

The last time Albacutya was full was in the early/mid 80's. Before it will fill again Hindmarsh has to fill then flow into Albacutya. Here's hoping we'll see it that way again one day in the future.

Best wishes and it was nice to meet at Warraweena.

It definately gets into your blood. We are going to revisit the high country next trip as we are overdue for a visit there. Mind you the Northern Flinders are yet to be explored by us. Cheers, Chris.

Chris/Lindsay,

We're heading for the Simpson Desert in September this year and we're looking forward to it so much. Reading how much you enjoyed your trip only makes us keener to get going!

There's definitely something about the desert country that gets into your blood and stirs the imagination.

Best wishes

Viv

I hope you have a fantastic time. We went last September and it was HOT. This time we had gorgeous days and below freezing nights. Please take plenty of fuel and water. We met someone who had run out of fuel and luckily one of our group had spare. Cheers, Chris.

Thanks Chris,

We can only manage to get away in September but definitely will be taking plenty fuel and water. We hope to go via Warburton Track across on the Rig Road to Dalhousie/Mt Dare then back to Birdsville via French Line and combination of the other tracks.

As I said before, we're looking forward to it very much.

Viv

We were in a party of five including a bright blue hilux and a green suzuki. Our landcruiser is silver with the explore oz sticker on the front. I don't recall seeing you. I hope you had a great time also. Chris.
