HF radio installation - recommendation.

After much deliberation and great advice from EO members I went ahead and bought a Codan NGT unit. In itself not noteworthy - but worth mentioning is the fantastic service I received at time of installation and during the training. So for those of you reviewing your comms set-up, and if you live within 150km of Newcastle, get hold of Lake Macquarie Communications in Gateshead. When spending this kind of money, you want the job to be professionally done and to know how to use the equipment. The drive is a worthwhile investment.

NAvigator 1,

Barn Hill Station is located 120 K's south of Broome and a further 10ks in from the Great Northern Highway. Unpowered site overlooking the beach $15 per couple.

The Painted Hills area is on Anna Creek station that adjoins the Oodnadatta Track. I'm told they are part of the painted desert but access to them is only by plane from William Creek.

Hope that helps

Hi George,
Fitted in a Patrol 3.0L. Early days yet but will certainly keep you posted. The owner - Doug - went through the install afterwards with a fine tooth comb to check that all was at it should be. Even fixed a problem with the UHF set up - which he hadn't supplied or fitted - but wasn't comfortable with. You may even want to give him a call and mention the problem to him - am sure he'll be more than happy to give some advice.
