Hi Giorgio,
I’ve just got back from
Ningaloo,
camping on the beach on one of the stations up there. Yardi creek can be easily crossed, when I was there it was bucketing down and high tide, you need to walk it first and check it but most of the time its only shallow. It was just above my knees and the crossing reasonably firm, I dropped tyre pressure to 15psi and no dramas. A 4wd that was towing a camper did however got a little bogged on the sand leading to the crossing but his tyre pressure was to high and after helping him out he decided to wait till the afternoon when the tide went down a little more. I caught up with him in
Exmouth and he said that the water level dropped to just above the ankles, he got through ok.
I was coming from south of Yardi Creek heading north along the tracks and the tracks were flooded because of the heavy rains but still passable. When we were about to leave
Exmouth to head back to camp along the same way we came the information centre advised us that the road and tracks leading to Yardi Creek were “CLOSED” and if you ignore the closure signs the ranger will fine you $2000. We had no option but to go back along the Hwy along the gulf side but it was no real big deal.
So check with the info centre at
Exmouth for road closures and conditions.
The Light house caravan park looked like a real nice park, close to all the popular spots.
Turquoise bay for skin diving beaut spot.
All the best ,
