replacing troopy front seats

Submitted: Thursday, Aug 02, 2007 at 20:35

Charli

just wondering if anyone out there has replaced the standard 75 series troopy front seats with anything else. Not looking at spending a fortune & just wondering if anyone out there has fitted any bucket seats out of a Falcon or Commodore etc
. Sick of the current seats on long trips

Cheers

Charli

Where abouts are you Charli ? I have just completed making adapter brackets to fit some buckets into my Troopy and will be dropping them into the vehicle in a couple of weeks time. I am in NZ and the Vehicle is in Melbourne and have just shipped the seats over, great being able to make use of some spare space in a shipping container :))

No problem Charli but I won't have them for about a month when I catch up with my seats in the shipping container.

I changed the seats in my 75 ser Ute. Found some Mazda something seats and welded the Toyota runners on. You have to fit the seats of centre a bit on the tracks but no real drama. I paid $60 for the seats which had covers on from new and it took me about half a day. Went to a Engineer and got a certificate too and a modification plate so nobody can whinge about it.

I had Tarago Buckets in my 75 series Troopy. Very comfortable and easily obtainable from Wreckers in good nick. Had to weld up some adaptor brackets, but no real drama. If anyone has ever sat in a later model Tarago, they are great seats, with adjustable everything!!

Just be aware- there may be an issue with ADR compliance when changing seat mounts....
