GU broken

Just found that my front prolocker is stuffed. Got it back to TJM today for them to take a look. Now I just have to wait for their opinion.

Anyone had any particular problems with the prolocker???

Sorry to hear that , but it really has me buggered why people will go and buy something that has not been proven instead of spending the dollars on a product that has 50 years of experience ,I have seen posts where someone has asked what type of locker to buy and I and other have recomended by our own experiences the Detroit range of lockers, then to save dollars they go and get some other brand at less half the price and then wonder why it breaks.
I had a look at one of those at TJM in Mt Isa , I was in the market to do the front Diff but after seeing it I decided to stay with Detroit , same as the rear Diff,
Mate I hope they don't try and pull one on you and say it was misused or whatever , good luck

Prolocker is not new, it is the old MacNamara locker which has been round for many years.

TJMs Pro Locker air-locking differential has only been on the market for a 2 or 3 years

Are you sure that you know you are talking about...?? (your comment about "less than half the price" has me intrigued)

I trust that you are not confusing the Prolocker with the Lockright.

Either way, neither is a 'new' product, they have both been around in various guises and brandings for quite some time.

We have two Lockrights in our old troopy, they have given well over 200 000kms of faithful, predictable and trouble free service.
The Prolocker in the Nissan was (apparently) the first one fitted to a non testbed vehicle in QLD. I use it regularly, and aside from being let down by a relay that was destroyed by water ingress it has performed faultlessly and reliably.

I'm not bagging your detroit, nor am I making any claims about the Prolocker being 'better' than any other brand. I'm just stating the fatcs. I have one, and it's has given me no trouble at all!

I don't mind admitting when I'm wrong, your right , I do mean the Lockright which has been around a long time, but the TJM Air operated locker has not , and correct me if I'm wrong but I am sure the TJM Air locker is the Pro-Locker ....!! and that came on the market not all that long ago, maybe 2 or 3 years at the most because I as I said inspected it at Mt Isa TJM .
Oh and my Detroit rear Diff has about 500,000 + klm, of faithful, predictable and trouble free service.
The front one don't count, it does stuff all work ,so you should say IT not THEY

true, the front does significantly less work!

The Prolocker is the McNamara diff that has been around for a long long time. Essentially TJM just widened it's application range and made it prettier.

As I said, I'm not bagging your detroit, so long as you are satisfied with its perfromance (as I am with the performance of my gear) then we are both winners aren't we.

This what the TJM Prolocker is and Jack McNamara designed air locker, that he has been making for Toyotas and LandRovers for years.

The locker was locking and unlocking itself without any driver input. The legs? that engage into the locking ring? are all mangled and appears the locking ring itself is smashed. Not a nice situation. Resulted in driving along and finding the front end suddenly all locked up.

It may have happened when I got myself a bit stuck a few weeks ago. My left side axle has also gone bang and snapped cleanly in two.

The question is which breakage caused the other.

If the broken axle lead to a locker problem, then the locker is simply not strong enough.

Tend to the theory that it was the locker going bust first.

those "legs" were my concern when I looked at the first one that Seaford TJM had out of box... they are tiny :(
