Article Overview - Camping Lights
In this article we list and describe the diverse range of lights available today and the options you might consider before embarking on your camping trip. View Full Article...
Over the years we have tried a number of combinations to get the best result, and have finally settled on a reasonable combination. With the trailer, we have around 300AH of battery.

General lighting around the camper trailer annex is done using a Coleman dual fuel. Spot lighting for cooking over the kitchen is a DIY 12v worklight with clamp so it clamps to the annex poles. Inside the camper we have another 12v fluro (Versalight), but this is rarely used unless it's a late setup. Ebay provided a 'UFO' 48 led which provides a general light inside the camper for getting changed and into bed. We use a small battery 'nightlight' as well to provide a little light for those early walks!

Torch wise we use 60 Led torches (haven't replaced batteries for 2 yrs), and am trialling a 81 led combo torch and worklight rechargable off 12v or 240v. This seems to provide a good general light and can be taken when the need arises to visit the longdrop!

Haven't been convinced with the headlamp units, but I think that's a personal thing. Luckily, we don't read in bed when camping, so haven't had to think much about that.

Cheers,

Michael

Have been using a headlamp lately, and although I don't read in bed either, it comes in handy for tending the camp oven, working under the hood of the 4x4 or CT etc as it leaves both hands free and you can see where ever your head points ..

Can recomend the Energiser brand 'head' lamps, they are brilliant when cooking as both hands are free and the light is ALLWAYS exactly where you are looking.
I use the Energiser red coloured light sourse while cooking, as it stops mozzies etc. hanging around the light and it can be turned to white light simply with the flick of a switch.
