Most dealers and manufactures will still warrant the vehicle if it has a chip fitted, it has to be proven that the chip caused the issue.
If you can prove to the chip makers that there chip caused the problem then yes most will pay....that is why businesses have insurance.
DP Power Chip has on there web site that they will warrant any new vehicle with a full engine and drive train warranty.
I don't think you understand the chip thing for diesels very much, you aren't talking about hugh power gains.
I supose you can say that the manufacture will refuse warranty for having
suspension upgrades, bigger wheels and
tyres, exhaust or the extra weight most 4x4's have to carry......
Same thing goes for LPG / Diesel combination or what about biodiesel.
Most people forget about stat warrenties that are still enforceble even when the factory warrent expires.
Most of the time it is not a pimple faced uni drop out who designs chips but well established and set up companys with alot of experiance.
Have a look at companys like DP who are diesel specialist or Dtronics who is owned by Peter Luxon, the same person who owns APS and Safari 4x4 products...
