fuel consumption with the Troopy

Thanks David&Michelle for the answers on our previous question. We also read your report on the Beach&Beyond site and found that your first Around Oz trip was 30,000Km. On another page we see an expense report for 216days. Is that from the same trip? That would mean an average fuel consumption of 11.7L/100km (if i take an average price of 1$/l). Is that correct? That seems quite OK if you guys travelled with a trailer.

ExplorOz Team replied:

Guys, Good to see that you have read our travel notes on the Beach & Beyond site. Our fuel consumption was between 4.9 and 7.3Kms per litre (20.4 and 13.7L/100km). The 20.4 was usually pulling the 600Kg trailer over softer/sandier tracks and the 13.7 was usually unloaded on the tar without the trailer. Over the trip the average was closer to 17L/100km the difference to your calculation was that the average price of fuel was a lot less a few years ago at around 82c/L.
